Scripture Squared Design Thinking Tool
The Imaginarium / Multimedia / 2019-2021
How might the familiar be experienced as the unfamiliar?
Scripture Squared is an immersive experience that draws from elements of design thinking in order to help small groups experience biblical stories in a new way. I designed the 20 initial booklets including typography, illustration, the accompanying app, and marketing campaign.
Proof of concept
Using tactile materials to make prototypes and physical mockups will always be a part of my design process. For this project, I started working small scale to determine how the content could best flow.
1
Prototype
After establishing an order for the sections to go through, I began working on overall visual style and type treatments. We needed something that would be engaging and timeless.
2
Final version (#1)
I partnered with a print shop to completely customize the booklet. Including elements like perforation created an end product that feels specialized and intentional. Removable sticky notes in coordinating colors adds a hint of charm.

Final version (#2)
After testing Final Version (#1) with several groups and at various events, we decided to make some changes to the overall structure in order to make the booklet a bit easier to maneuver. The simplifications improve the overall experience for the person interacting with the tool, and that’s always the goal. In Production
